How to reduce subscription churn

Sublyra · 2026-09-20 · 4 min

Churn is rarely one lever. Failed payments, friction at cancel, and silence after cancel all contribute — and fixing only one leaves money on the table.

Start with smart retries and a clear path to update the card. Many “cancels” are involuntary: the renewal failed and nobody recovered it.

Add reason-based save offers at cancel. Ask why they’re leaving, then offer something real (skip, discount, pause) instead of a dead-end cancel button.

Then win back lapsed subscribers with timed campaigns and redeemable Shopify discounts — not vague “we miss you” emails with no offer.

On Sublyra, dunning, cancel saves, and win-back ship on Free (up to 300 subscribers). You should not have to buy Pro just to keep the subscribers you already earned.
